LINE Official Account case studies from Taiwan: memberships, bookings and customer service

Five documented Taiwanese cases, from a pasta chain to Decathlon, inline, Hengstyle and Yungching, on using LINE for members, bookings and service, plus lessons for SMEs.

Plenty of shop owners have heard that LINE can run memberships, bookings and customer service. But what does that look like in practice? This article walks through five publicly documented Taiwanese cases from restaurants, retail, a sports brand and real estate, grouped into memberships, bookings and customer service. For each one we look at the tools used, the problem solved and the results that were published, then pull out lessons small businesses can borrow, plus what to watch on cost and personal data.

First: the LINE tools behind these cases

A few terms first. A LINE Official Account is a brand's account on LINE, with built-in broadcasts, auto-replies and rich menus. The Messaging API lets your own system send and receive messages, which is what people usually call a LINE Bot. LIFF and LINE MINI Apps are web apps that open inside LINE, so customers can use a member card, booking page or campaign page without installing anything. Many of the cases below also rely on ready-made products from LINE partners rather than building everything from scratch.

Note: the cases below are public, documented examples, not Rejoicing Fountain clients; details are summarised from the references at the end. Two BusinessNext articles (Hengstyle and Yungching) are written under the byline of LINE Biz-Solutions and are brand partnership content, with figures self-reported by the companies; two other cases come from LINE Biz-Solutions' own case pages. Read them with that in mind.

Membership case 1: Shapa Italian Pasta's LINE points

According to LINE Biz-Solutions' official case page, Shapa Italian Pasta (founded in 2014) worked with partner 12CM so that adding the brand's Official Account makes a customer a member, with 12CM's membership system handling member data and points. The interesting part is how points are collected: a smart stamp at the table registers and redeems points, with no POS integration needed.

The rules are concrete. Every NT$100 spent earns one point, redeemable for small desserts; new members get 5 points and 10 more in their birthday month; spending NT$6,000 in store in a year unlocks silver membership, with an exclusive coupon on the 25th of each month. The case page does not publish results such as member growth or repeat visits, but the design, with clear thresholds and small, frequent rewards, is a useful template for small restaurants.

Membership case 2: Decathlon turns race crowds into members

When Decathlon Taiwan sponsored a highway marathon, it combined a LINE MINI App, LINE Touch NFC devices and its Official Account. Runners tapped their phones at bib pickup or the venue to open the event page; logging in with LINE also registered them as Decathlon members and added the Official Account as a friend. They could pick an avatar, cheer each other on and download a digital finisher certificate to share.

The official case page reports 2,799 new members and friends and a 59% visitor conversion rate. After the race, runners were tagged by full, half or relay distance and received recovery tips and gear information, and running revenue rose 57% year on year. The notable idea is "experience first, link later": runners were not pushed to add the account up front, and joined after the app had already been useful to them.

Booking case: inline brings reservations into LINE

Restaurant reservation platform inline is one of the most visible booking examples in Taiwan. In July 2025 it launched an AI assistant on its own Official Account: diners describe what they want in plain language, the system checks partner restaurants' opening hours and live availability, recommends options and completes the booking inside the chat. The booking can be shared with companions in one step, and friends who confirm get a dining reminder too.

Even phone bookings connect to LINE

Earlier, in May 2024, LINE, Taiwan Mobile, inline and other partners announced AI voice reservations: a diner calls the restaurant or the Official Account and an AI voice agent takes the booking, around the clock. Rou De Huang (肉得慌), Second Floor (貳樓) and others were announced as the first to adopt it. The companies said a booking could take as little as a minute and expected it to cut restaurants' staffing needs by half, but those were projections rather than measured results, and restaurants had to be inline customers and subscribe to specific telecom services.

Customer service case 1: Hengstyle merges 70+ accounts into one

Hengstyle distributes more than thirty appliance and lifestyle brands. Each store counter used to run its own Official Account, so customer data was scattered and cross-brand or repair questions were hard to pick up. According to a BusinessNext article (written under the LINE Biz-Solutions byline; brand partnership content with self-reported figures), Hengstyle worked with Omnichat to merge more than 70 accounts into a single "One hengstyle" account connected to its e-commerce platform and back-office systems.

Customers scan a code at the counter to link to their own sales associate, keep receiving maintenance reminders after they leave, and can file after-sales requests in the chat for stores to route to the right team. The article cites around 5,000 new offline links a month on average and a block rate kept below 31%. The lesson: the more scattered your accounts, the harder service gets, and a single entry point often matters more than extra features.

Customer service case 2: Yungching's AI assistant

Yungching Property Group launched "Yungching AI Assistant" on its Official Account. People describe what they need in natural language, such as area, budget, good light or room for three generations, and it recommends homes from roughly 250,000 listing records and answers questions about layout, parking and management fees. It is not meant to replace agents; it handles repetitive questions first and passes interested customers to a person.

This BusinessNext article is also written under the LINE Biz-Solutions byline as brand partnership content, with self-reported figures. It reports more than 2 million interactions in under six months and a 200% increase in agents' viewing rate, without stating the baseline or period. For a small business the takeaway is not to build AI at that scale, but the division of labour: organise your data first, let the bot handle lookups, and let people close the sale.

Five lessons for small businesses

  • Start with one scenario: Shapa began with points and inline with booking notifications, each solving one common job before expanding.
  • Experience first, link later: as Decathlon showed, linking and adding friends feels natural once customers have already got something useful.
  • Write the rules down: how points are earned, when tiers change, how late a booking can be cancelled. Clear rules are what let a system run on its own.
  • Use existing tools first: most cases rely on a partner's existing product. If built-in features or off-the-shelf tools are enough, there is no rush to build.
  • Keep a human hand-off: Hengstyle and Yungching both use the bot as the first line and pass complex or high-value conversations to people.

What to measure, and cost and privacy

Metrics worth tracking

Borrow the metrics these cases use: new friends and member links, block rate, message click-through, booking completion and no-show rates, the share of chats that still need a person after auto-replies, and repeat purchases. Record your numbers before launch and compare after three months; that tells you far more than a total friend count.

Message fees and plans

Push messages are subject to quotas and fees, and replies are counted differently from pushes. When we checked in October 2026, LINE's Official Account page announced that its pricing plans will change from 1 November 2026, so check LINE's latest official announcement before planning your message volume.

Personal data and consent

Linking members and storing birthdays or purchase history is collection and use of personal data. Explain the purpose, get consent, collect only the fields you need and follow Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. If a vendor processes the data for you, confirm how they store it and who can access it.

FAQ

Can a small shop get results like these?

The numbers are not directly comparable at a different scale, but the approaches can be copied in miniature. Start with one of points, booking reminders or FAQ auto-replies, watch how customers respond, then decide what comes next.

Do I have to build a custom LINE Bot?

Not necessarily. If the built-in Official Account features or an existing booking or membership tool are enough, use them first. Custom development makes sense when you need to connect to your own POS, orders or customer data, or treat each customer differently based on that data.

How soon will I see results?

The cases give no common timeline, and most are published results from large brands. A practical approach is to pick two or three metrics, record them before and after launch, and let the data decide whether to invest further.

Wrapping up

What these cases share is turning the LINE app customers already use into the entrance for memberships, bookings and service, each starting from one clear need.
